Educational Benefit Programs for Veterans

The U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) offers a variety of educational benefit programs. Explore your options and find the right program for you.

Who Qualifies?

    This program is currently not funded by the State of Oregon

  • MONTGOMERY GI BILL® - ACTIVE DUTY (CHAPTER 30)

    The Montgomery GI Bill®/Active Duty (Chapter 30), is available to active duty members who enroll and pay $100 per month during their first 12 months on active duty. These individuals are entitled to a monthly education benefit once they complete a minimum service obligation. For complete information, visit the VA's website.

    • Complete and submit an Application for VA Education Benefits (VA Form 22-1990) to Chemeketa Veterans Services

    If you’re changing schools or degree program

    • Complete and submit a Request for Change of Program or Place of Training (VA Form 22-1995) to Chemeketa Veterans Services
  • MONTGOMERY GI BILL® - SELECTED RESERVE (CHAPTER 1606)

    The Montgomery GI Bill®/Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606) is for members of the National Guard or Selected Reserve with a six-year obligation who are actively drilling. For complete information, visit the VA's website.

    • Complete and submit an Application for VA Education Benefits (VA Form 22-1990) to Chemeketa Veterans Services
    • To expedite processing and approval by VA, include a copy of your Notice of Basic Eligibility/DD Form 2384

    If you’re changing schools or degree program

    • Complete and submit a Request for Change of Program or Place of Training (VA Form 22-1995) to Chemeketa Veterans Services
  • POST 9/11 GI BILL® (CHAPTER 33)

    The Post 9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33) is for Veterans who served on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. This benefit pays 50-100% of tuition and fees, a monthly living allowance and an annual stipend for textbooks and supplies. For complete information, visit the VA's website.

    If you’re a dependent with GI Bill benefits transferred to you

    • Complete and submit an Application for Family Member to use Transferred Benefits (VA Form 22-1990e)  after the U.S. Department of Defense has approved the benefit transfer

    If you’re changing schools or degree program

    • Complete and submit a Request for Change of Program or Place of Training (VA Form 22-1995) to Chemeketa Veterans Services
  • DEPENDENTS' EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CHAPTER 35)

    The Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance (DEA) Program offers education and training opportunities to eligible family members of Veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition of Veterans who died on active duty or a result of a service-related condition.     If you’re changing schools or degree program

  • GYSGT JOHN DAVID FRY SCHOLARSHIP

    The Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship (Fry Scholarship) is available for the children and spouses of Service members who died in the line of duty after September 10th, 2001.  For complete information, visit the VA's website.

    If you’re changing schools or degree program

    • Complete and submit a Dependent's Request for Change of Program or Place of Training (VA Form 22-5495) to Chemeketa Veterans Services
  • VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION & EMPLOYMENT (CHAPTER 31)

    If you have a service-connected disability, you may be able to receive Vocational Readiness and Employment (VR&E) services to help with job training, employment accommodations, resume development and job seeking skills coaching. For complete information, visit the VA's VR&E website.
