Student ID Card Information

The fourteen-digit library barcode on your Chemeketa ID card allows you to use EBSCOhost databases from outside campus and to place requests for books in the library catalog. Detailed information about placing a request is available at http://newterra.chemeketa.edu/library/information/catrequest.htm. You can also use your ID card as a copy card. Student ID cards are obtained at the Bookstore (Building 1), on the Salem campus.

ID cards issued during or after the fall 2001 term (beige cards) have the library barcode number on the front of the card, at the bottom. ID cards issued before the fall 2001 term (white cards) have two barcodes on the back. One is a student number; the other, larger, number is the library barcode number.

Note about placing holds on library materials: If you have not used your student card during the current term, you may receive an error message when you try to place a request. This means that your barcode needs to be activated by the library staff. You can take your card to the circulation desk at the Chemeketa Library on the Salem campus, or call 503-399-5043 or e-mail renewal@chemeketa.edu to ask staff to take care of this for you. Be sure to include your student number and fourteen-digit library barcode number in the message.

Distant students who cannot come to the campus: Distance education students who live outside the CCRLS service area can obtain password information from their instructor for accessing the EBSCOhost databases. Distance ed instructors are given password information for their students each term. Or students can call the library at 503-399-5043, or e-mail renewal@chemeketa.edu. Be sure to include your name and your student number in the message.

Use of ID cards for copying and printing: Student ID cards issued after September 1, 2002 may be used as debit cards for photocopying and printing. You can use the vending machines in the library's copy room to put copy credit of up to $20 on your ID card by inserting your ID card and inserting one dollar or five dollar bills.
