Crisis Intervention Project One
Goal: To increase your understanding of the unique person who you are by evaluating current and potential career stressors and your coping mechanisms.
This first portion of the Crisis Intervention class is focused on the Balance of Healthy Self-Care. This includes being able to look at yourself objectively and being open to try out new skills.
Items to include in Project One:
- Interview report - minimum 1/2 page (see week 1)
This interview, along with your discussions in class and on the WebBoard and the text reading started a focus on job related stressors.
- Written response to Patch Adams movie (see week 3)
Watching the movie and writing the responses to the questions hopefully highlighted more issues about job related stressors and also pointing out some aspects of how and why you try to keep job and family separated.
- Involvement in Discussion Group about job-related stressors as you have discovered (see week 1 & 2)
One thing we find out here is that awful calls may be a part of the job related stressors. But to some people's surprise also things like working conditions, supervision, and people issues are big items for many.
- Your personal inventory report. This is a minimum of 2 pages. The Personal Inventory is a paper designed for reflection and assessment of the stressors and stress level in your life and an evaluation of the effectiveness of your coping skills. an additional purpose is to encourage giving oneself permission and responsibility for maintaining that balance of a healthy self. Include an evaluation of your stress quiz but not a copy of the results. (part of week 2 & 3)
Career Goal: to provide respectful, sensitive and self-insightful health care to those persons that I encounter in my profession.
I am providing a career goal for all of you. As part of doing your personal inventory and assessment I encourage each of you to be honest about how you will reach this goal. Are there issues that you need to deal with to keep yourself healthy and an asset to your chosen profession? Or are you doing OK now but can see how you might want to develop more of a support group or alternative ways of stress relief for the future? Or do you think that you will do OK in this chosen profession as long as you stay open and keep learning?
Project One is Due on the Web Board in your Personal Conference (your name) on 10/21/2006 by Midnight.
Have each item clearly identified.
