EMAIL address either work or home, you can check which one.

5. If you DON’T want free newsletters, new products, etc. deselect the check and leave it blank. However, since Scholastic has lots of products for the schools, you may want to get these.

Class Homepage Builder – 1,2,3

Here is the process. You will fill in the 3 steps and then preview to see what the web page will look like. Then you can come back and edit, if it is not the way you want.

To begin:
1. Review the choices. You can always come back and change. However, you may want to set your class grade now with the drop down list.

2. Personalize this section. You will need:

a. Your OWN welcome message Headline
b. Your OWN welcome message
c. Your OWN class News Headline
d. Your OWN class News

3. Homepage Images – choose from selections or for advanced users you can add your own.

4. Choose a page style.

Then, click PREVIEW.

Now you have the shell of your very own page. You can go back and edit or go to the next step.

Now here are the requirements for completing your web site project.
You must have personalized pages for each of the buttons on the left. Put your OWN content in :

1. Announcements
2. Homework
3. Booklists
4. Software lists
5. Online Activities and Class Projects
6. Important Links and Resources

Note: there will be 2 modes for your class homepage:

1. A teacher’s view with editing capabilities
2. A parent/student view

Please click on create access for Parents and Students. This will be the page that I see to grade!!! And the one that we can share with the other students in this class.

SECURITY info:
Choose a Class User Name and a Class Password.

  • DON’T make it complicated.
  • I used ED235 and made the password the same. If you want more security use the grade level and then something ALL the children know.

Continue: get a page to review your input. Note you can get a letter in English or Spanish to use with the children and parents on how to access your web page.

Now you are ready to create the rest of the pages.

Here is the criteria.

  1. appropriate Educational content
  2. write content for all 6 areas
  3. add graphics as appropriate
  4. add a URL (a link to another site)
  5. have fun!

To see the sample page that I made and where I will add links to your sites, so we will have a global class page.

Go to http://www.scholastic.com

In the lower right hand corner under Free Services, click on
Class Homepage Login

Class User Name: ed235
Password: ed235
Click on student or parent or other. And this will take you to the basic model site that I built.

You, too, will have one of these!!
