Class Discussion (11 % of the grade): Interaction is where learning happens. This is active learning. Even though we are online, we will still have class discussions where everyone can voice their opinion. As a matter of fact, the online environment allows for participation from everyone. We don't run out of time to hear everyone. The shy person has an equal chance. No one has to compete to be heard. If you like to think about something, before opening your mouth, you have the perfect opportunity here. If you want to "hear" what others are saying first, you can read their comments and then respond. So the reflective learner is valued equally as the instant responder.

You do not have to be brilliant! You just have to talk and try out your ideas and we will all engage in the discussion together. Therefore, the grading for this part of the class is simply full credit or no credit. To receive full credit, you must participate in the discussion each week. Since the person who starts first has no one to respond to, bonus points will be awarded to this person. The discussion conference will be posted on Sundays. The discussion questions will be both on the web page AND in the discussion conference. Please just REPLY to the discussion question.

Activities /Projects(74% of the grade): This is the creative category, where you will make materials for yourself and the classroom. Some of these are long term projects that will continue throughout the term, while others are shorter one time activities. All of these will help you prepare for your final project

  • National Education Technology Standards Portfolio
  • Infused Technology Mission/Philosophy Statement
  • Acceptable Use Policy
  • Productivity Software Activity (CDROM)
  • Web Quest
  • Web Page
  • Annotated Bibliograpy

Quizzes (4% of the grade): There will be three quizzes for each of the three sections covered in our textbook. These objective online tests will assess both your comprehension of pertinent parts of the textbook and your ability to apply this knowledge.

Final Project (11% of the grade): The final project is a 15 minute demonstration of an infused technology lesson. Turn in on videotape, cdvideo or DVD.
