Our goals are 1) to reflect on the
experience of being an online learner and 2) to synthesize goals
and plans for hybridizing a course.
During this section of the workshop
you will demonstrate accomplishment of these goals by
- identifying insights about online
learning from your online workshop experience.
- building a matrix that can guide the
hybridizing work you are developing for your fall course offering.

In Activity 7, you explored and evaluated online learning modules.
Plus you reviewed the WebQuest module design and considered how
you might incorporate modules for topics in your own course. Today our focus shifts to
extrapolating some lessons from the experience of being an online
learner and to planning the development of a hybrid course.

After reviewing the Activity 8 resources, complete and post the following
activity tasks on the WebBoard. |

Activity 8A: List 5 personal insights about online learning that
will guide you as you hybridize your course. Be specific about the
actions you will take as a result of your reflection on the online
learning experience. |

Activity 8B: First, after reviewing "Questions
for Reflection On Creating Hybrid Courses" and "Turning
Your Ideas Into Actions, build a matrix that lays out a work plan
for hybridizing a course. You might also find Lucy MacDonald's
planning
matrix helpful.
Consider the vision you now hold for your hybrid course, how you will
achieve that vision, the stages or steps you foresee, and the new
knowledge or skills you may need to realize your vision.
Second, please plan to share your hybridizing experience and your plan
(and/or product) with colleagues in your program areas.
Please let me know if you would be willing to share with other programs
as well. If so, we'll put a show on the road.

Post these activity responses
on WebBoard in the Conferences Activity 8A and Activity 8B respectively.
The WebBoard will remain active until the beginning of
Fall Term 04.
