Activity 6 - Laying Out the Framework

  Outcomes

Our goal is to plan online and on-campus learning components in a hybrid class so that they complement one another and avoid functioning as  unrelated, separate learning events for learners.

During this section of  the workshop you will demonstrate accomplishment of this goal by
  • discussing a framework that integrates online and on-campus learning activities within a unit of learning.

  • illustrating how an integrated online and on-campus assignment would engage students in complementary learning activities.

  Overview

In Activity 5, you created an activity plan, reviewed a revised a hybrid syllabus, and reviewed lessons learned from others' hybrid work.

Today our focus shifts to establishing coherence between the hybrid course's learning events.  We will examine three frameworks that support coherence among online and on-campus activities .  And we will illustrate complementary activities that fit into a specific framework.

Activity 6 ResourcesUse the provided resources to inform yourself about today's focus,  integration of hybrid learning activities, and to support your activity work.

  Activity 6 - Tasks

Use the provided resources to inform yourself about today's focus, frameworks for  hybrid assignments, and to support your activity work.

Sun Bullet Activity 6A:  Determine which of the  three (or one of your own) frameworks for integrating online and on-campus activities would work for your course as you approach planning a unit or module of instruction that has both online and on-campus components.

Framework 1   |  Framework 2  |  Framework 3

Post a message that indicates which framework you prefer.   Explain why you value the model you have chosen.

Sun Bullet Activity 6B: Provide an illustration of  the  integration of an online and  in-class task sequence where the assignments are clearly complementary.  See Sample Illustration: Framework 1 Model.

Post these activity responses on WebBoard in the Conferences Activity 6A and Activity 6B respectively.

Please post all tasks no later than Friday of this week.
